ADULT SECTION Maintenance Chain Tensioner Inspect the chain. The chain should have 1″ of deflection as shown. If not, loosen the nut on the chain tensioner (A) and raise until 1″ (B) of deflection is attained. Tighten nut to 15-18 ft. lbs. (20-24 Nm). When the chain comes within 1/8″ (C) of the muffler mount bracket (D) on the chassis, the chain has stretched and must be replaced. Inspect the sprockets as they also become worn and often need replacement when the chain is replaced. D B C A 62
