MAINTENANCE Rear Gearcase Oil Always check and change the rear gearcase oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 52. Maintain the oil level at the bottom of the check plug hole. We recommend the use of POLARIS ATV Angle Drive Fluid. Use of other oils may result in improper operation of components. See page 98 for the part numbers of POLARIS products. Rear Gearcase Oil Recommendations Gearcase Rear Gearcase Lubricant ATV Angle Drive Fluid Capacity 4 oz. (120 ml) Fill Plug Torque 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm) Drain/Check Plug Torque 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm) Oil Check 1. Position the vehicle on a level surface. 2. Remove the check plug and view the oil level. 3. Remove the fill plug. Add the recommended oil as needed. 4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification. 5. Reinstall the check plug. Torque to specification. 6. Check for leaks. Oil Change Fill Plug Check Plug 1. Remove the skid plate. 2. Remove the drain plug. Drain the oil into an appropriate container. Discard used oil properly. 3. Clean and reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer. Torque to specification. 4. Remove the fill plug and add the recommended gearcase oil. 5. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification. 6. Check for leaks. 7. Reinstall the skid plate. 61

MAINTENANCE
Rear Gearcase Oil
Always check and change the rear gearcase oil at the intervals outlined
in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 52.
Maintain the oil level at the bottom of the check plug hole. We
recommend the use of POLARIS ATV Angle Drive Fluid. Use of other
oils may result in improper operation of components. See page 98 for
the part numbers of POLARIS products.
Rear Gearcase Oil Recommendations
Oil Check
1.
Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2.
Remove the check plug and view
the oil level.
3.
Remove the fill plug. Add the
recommended oil as needed.
4.
Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to
specification.
5.
Reinstall the check plug. Torque to
specification.
6.
Check for leaks.
Oil Change
1.
Remove the skid plate.
2.
Remove the drain plug. Drain the oil into an appropriate container.
Discard used oil properly.
3.
Clean and reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer. Torque
to specification.
4.
Remove the fill plug and add the recommended gearcase oil.
5.
Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
6.
Check for leaks.
7.
Reinstall the skid plate.
