The BBU battery has an expected life span of one to two years depending on usage. You can check the current status of the battery, and test it. To replace the battery 1 Make sure the system is powered down, that you are grounded, and follow all appropriate safety procedures. 2 Disconnect the battery power cable from the BBU control module on the controller card. To do so, press down on the lever-like clip on the battery power connector and slide it out of the slot. (If desired, you can remove the BBU control module to facilitate disconnecting the power cable. This will require removing the controller card from your enclosure.) Replacing the Battery

To replace the battery

Make sure the system is powered down, that you are grounded,
and follow all appropriate safety procedures.

Disconnect the battery power cable from the BBU control
module on the controller card.
To do so, press down on the lever-like clip on the battery power
connector and slide it out of the slot.
(If desired, you can remove the BBU control module to
facilitate disconnecting the power cable. This will require
removing the controller card from your enclosure.)
Figure 17 shows how removing the connector looks if you
remove the BBU control module from the controller.
