English 99 Installing an expansion card This section explains how to install an expansion card and a second SLI-Ready graphic card. PCI bus slots interface The computer has seven PCI bus slots that supports the following transfer rates: • PCI Express 2.0 x16 supports up to 8.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E1, E4) • PCI Express x16 supports up to 4.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E6) • PCI Express x8 supports up to 2.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E5) • PCI Express 2.0 x1 supports up to 250 MB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E2, E3) To install an expansion card: 1 Perform the preinstallation instructions described on page 84. 2 If necessary, remove any cables that prevent access to the processor sockets. 3 Locate an empty expansion slot that is compatible with the specification of the card you intend to install. 4 Press the release latch of the slot cover opposite the selected expansion slot. 5 Pull out the slot cover and store it for reassembly later.

This section explains how to install an expansion card and a second SLI-Ready
graphic card.
PCI bus slots interface
The computer has seven PCI bus slots that supports the following transfer rates:
PCI Express 2.0 x16 supports up to 8.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E1, E4)
PCI Express x16 supports up to 4.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E6)
PCI Express x8 supports up to 2.0 GB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E5)
PCI Express 2.0 x1 supports up to 250 MB/s transfer rate.(PCI_E2, E3)
To install an expansion card:

Perform the preinstallation instructions described on page 84.

If necessary, remove any cables that prevent access to the processor
sockets.

Locate an empty expansion slot that is compatible with the specification of
the card you intend to install.

Press the release latch of the slot cover opposite the selected expansion
slot.
