Installing the Device Drivers Windows Me & Windows XP Driver Installation Driver installation is optional for Windows Me, and Windows XP. Simply connect the Adaptec Media Reader to the system and the system will go through a sequence of installation processes by itself. When it is ready, you can access the reader by clicking the "Removable Disk" icon in "My Computer". However, if you install the driver from the CD, the four multi-format slots of the reader will be clearly marked as CF (for CompactFlash), MS (for Memory Stick), SD (for Secure Digital), and SM (for SmartMedia).
