4. BIOS SETUP Cylinders This field configures the number of cylinders. Refer to your drive documentation to determine the correct value to enter into this field. Heads This field configures the number of read/write heads. Refer to your drive documentation to determine the correct value to enter into this field. Write Precompensation [0] Leave on default setting. Sectors This field configures the number of sectors per track. Refer to your drive documentation to determine the correct value to enter into this field. Maximum Capacity This field shows the drive's maximum capacity. LBA Mode [On] When Logical Block Addressing is enabled, 28-bit addressing of the hard drive is used without regard for cylinders, heads, or sectors. Note that Logical Block Access may decrease the access speed of the hard disk. However, LBA Mode is necessary for drives with greater than 504MB in storage capacity. Available options: [Off] [On] Block Mode [On] This option enables or disables the multiple sector transfer mode. Available options: [Off] [On] Fast Programmed I/O PIO Modes [4] This option lets you set a PIO (Programmed Input/Output) mode for the IDE device. Leave on default setting. Boot Sector Virus Protection [Disabled] This field allows you to set boot virus detection, ensuring a virus-free boot sector. The system halts and displays a warning message when it detects a virus. If this occurs, you can either allow the operation to continue or use a virus-free bootable floppy disk to restart and investigate your system.
