4. AMD® SB750 Southbridge Serial ATA connectors (7-pin SATA1-6) These connectors are for the Serial ATA signal cables for Serial ATA hard disk and optical disk drives. If you install SATA hard disk drives to the SATA1-6 connectors, you can create a RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 or RAID 10 configuration through the onboard AMD® SB750 controller. These connectors are set to [IDE] by default. If you intend to create a Serial ATA RAID set using these connectors, set the Onchip SATA Type item in the BIOS to [RAID]. Important note on Serial ATA Install the Windows® XP Service Pack 1 before using Serial ATA. • For detailed instructions on how to configure RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10, refer to the RAID manual in the support DVD. • If you intend to create a Serial ATA RAID set using these connectors, set the Onchip SATA Type item in the BIOS to [RAID]. 2-26 Chapter 2: Hardware information
