• These connectors are set to S t a n d a r d I D E mode by default. In S t a n d a r d I D E mode, you can connect Serial ATA boot/data hard disk drives to these connectors. If you intend to create a Serial ATA RAID set using these connectors, set the C o n f i g u r e S A T A A s item in the BIOS to [RAID]. See section "4.3.5 IDE Configuration" on page 4-15 for details. • For RAID 5, use at least three hard disk drives. For RAID 10, use at least four hard disk drives. Use two to four hard disk drives for each RAID 0 or RAID 1 set. The Serial ATA RAID feature (RAID 0/RAID 1/RAID 5/ RAID 10) is available only when you are using Windows® 2000/XP/2003 Server. • When using the connectors in S t a n d a r d I D E mode, connect the primary (boot) hard disk drive to the SATA1 or SATA2 connector. Refer to the table below for the recommended SATA hard disk drive connections.
