4. Adjustment A CAUTION A Turn off the power switch and disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet at the following times, otherwise the machine may operate if the start switch is pressed by mistake, which could result in injury. •When carrying out inspection, adjustment and maintenance If the power switch needs to be left on when carrying out some adjustment, be extremely careful to observe all safety precautions. Maintenance and inspection of the sewing machine should only be carried out by a qualified technican. 4-1. Needle bar guide rai,l/ 1. Turn the pulley 0 to set the needle bar to its lowest point. (Turn the pulley until II mark on the pulley is aligned with the one on the belt cover.) 2. Insertthe positioning bar @ into the hole in the side of the machine head, and secure the upper shaft. 3. Loosen the screw of the needle bar clamp © when the needle tip is positioned 10.8 mm above the center of the rotary shaft. Adjust the position of the needle bar thread guide so that the set screw 0 on it is turned 25° - 30° to the right when viewed from the front. Tighten the screw of the needle bar clamp O. NOTE When tightening the screw of the needle bar clamp, the hole in the needle bar thread guide should face the front. o 4. Set the needle bar to its highest point. Lightly press the top dead center stopper 0 toward the cushion rubber 0, and tighten the bolt so that it faces the front. NOTE Make sure that the stopper does not strike the needle bar guide rail. 5.
