2 Driver and software 2 Printer driver A printer driver is software that translates data from the format used by a computer to the format that a particular printer needs. Typically, this format is a printer command language or page description language. The printer drivers for the following operating systems are on the CD-ROM that we have supplied. You can also download the latest printer driver from the Brother Solutions Center at http://solutions.brother.com Windows® 95/98/Me Windows® 2000 Windows NT® 4.0 Windows® XP PCL Driver (Hewlett-Packard LaserJet compatible laser printer) i i i i BR-Script Driver (Postscript® 3 language emulation) i i i i Mac® OS 8.6-9.2 *Use the LaserWriter 8 Driver that we have supplied for your OS Mac® OS X 10.1 *Use the PostScript® Driver that we have supplied for your OS BR-Script Driver (Postscript® 3 language emulation) i i ■ If you want to print from a DOS application, see Chapter 6. ■ For more information about emulations, see Chapter 3. ■ When you print using a Network, you will need to have a Network board installed.
