■ Using the optional quilting guide Use the quilting guide to sew parallel stitches that are equally spaced. Free-motion quilting With free-motion quilting, lower the feed dogs (using the drop feed lever) so that the fabric can be moved freely in any direction. The optional quilting foot is needed for free-motion quilting. Using the optional quilting guide
Use the quilting guide to sew parallel stitches that
are equally spaced.

Insert the stem of the quilting guide into the
hole at the rear of the walking foot or presser
foot holder.

Adjust the stem of the quilting guide so that
the guide aligns with the seam that has already
been sewn.
Note
The optional quilting guide is available
through your Brother dealer.
Free-motion quilting
With free-motion quilting, lower the feed dogs (using

The optional quilting foot is needed for free-motion
quilting.

Turn off the sewing machine.

Remove the presser foot and the presser foot
holder.

Secure the quilting foot with the presser foot
holder screw.
The pin on the quilting foot should be
positioned over the needle clamp screw.

hand, and then tighten the presser foot holder
screw using the screwdriver in your left hand.
