Do one of the following: „ Disconnect the machine from the power for several minutes, then reconnect it. „ If the problem continues, call Brother Customer Service. The paper is jammed inside the (See Paper jams on page 67.) machine. The paper is jammed in the back (See Paper jams on page 67.) of the machine. The paper is jammed in the paper (See Paper jams on page 67.) tray of the machine. The belt unit is not installed properly. Re-install the belt unit. (See Replacing the belt unit on page 96.) The machine is out of paper or paper is not properly loaded in the paper tray. Do one of the following: „ Refill the paper in the paper tray and press Black Start or Color Start or put the paper in the manual feed slot. „ Remove the paper and load it again. Then press Black Start or Color Start. „ If the problem is not solved, the paper C pick-up roller may be stained. Clean the paper pickup roller. (See Cleaning the paper pick-up rollers on page 81.) The toner cartridge or the drum Re-install the toner cartridge or the drum unit unit and toner cartridge assembly that is indicated on the LCD. is not installed properly. Init Unable XX
The machine has a mechanical
problem.
Do one of the following:
Disconnect
the machine from the power
for several minutes, then reconnect it.
If the problem continues, call Brother
Customer Service.
Jam Inside
The paper is jammed inside the
machine.

Jam Rear
The paper is jammed in the back
of the machine.

on page 67.)
Jam Tray
The paper is jammed in the paper
tray of the machine.
(See
Paper jams
on page 67.)
No Belt Unit
The belt unit is not installed
properly.
Re-install the belt unit. (See
Replacing the
belt unit
on page 96.)
No Paper
The machine is out of paper or
paper is not properly loaded in the
paper tray.
Do one of the following:
Refill the paper in the paper tray and
press
Black Start
or
Color Start
or put
the paper in the manual feed slot.
Remove the paper and load it again.
Then press
Black Start
or
Color Start
.
If the problem is not solved, the paper
pick-up roller may be stained. Clean the
paper pickup roller. (See
Cleaning the
paper pick-up rollers
on page 81.)
No Toner
The toner cartridge or the drum
unit and toner cartridge assembly
is not installed properly.
Re-install the toner cartridge or the drum unit
that is indicated on the LCD.
No Waste Toner
The waste toner box is not
installed properly.
Re-install the waste toner box. (See
Replacing the waste toner box
on page 100.)
Out of Memory
The machine’s memory is full.
Copy operation in progress
Do one of the following:
Press
Black Start
or
Color Start
to copy
the scanned pages.
Press
Stop/Exit
and wait until the other
operations in progress finish, and then try
again.
Clear the data from the memory. (See
Out of memory message
on page 32.)
Print operation in process
Reduce print resolution. (See
