a: Manual Exposure You can set both the shutter speed and aperture manually as desired. While referring to the exposure level indicator in the viewfinder, you can set the exposure as desired. This method is called manual exposure. * stands for Manual. 1 Set the Mode Dial to . 2 Set the ISO speed (p.158). 3 Set the shutter speed and aperture. To set the shutter speed, turn the dial. To set the aperture, turn the dial. If it cannot be set, set the switch downward, then turn the or dial. Standard exposure index Exposure level mark 4 Focus on the subject. Press the shutter button halfway. The exposure setting will be displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel. Check the exposure level mark to see how far the current exposure level is from the standard exposure level. 5 Set the exposure and take the picture. Check the exposure level indicator and set the desired shutter speed and aperture. If the exposure level exceeds ±2 stops from the standard exposure, the end of the exposure level indicator will display or in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel. (On the LCD monitor, if the exposure level exceeds ±3 stops, or will be displayed.) The set exposure setting will not be applied to movie shooting. 197
