TROUBLESHOOTING CHART: See appropriate section in manual unless directed to Sears service center PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Engine clicks but will not start Loss of power 1 Weak or dead battery° 2 Corrodedbattery terminals. 3 Looseor damagedwiring. 4 Faultysolenoidor starter° 1 Cuttingtoo much grass/toofast. 2 Throttlein "CHOKE" position, 3 Build-upof grass, leaves end trash under mower° 4 Dirty air filter` 5 Low oil level/dirtyoil. 6 Faulty spark plug, 7 Dirty fuel filter, 8 Stale or dirty fuel. 9 Water in fuel. 10 Spark plug wire loose. tl Dirty engine air screen/fins. 12 Dirtylciogged muffler, 13 Loose or damaged wiring_ 14 Carburetor out of adjustment, I5 Engine valves out of adjustment. I Recharge or replacebattery._ 2 Clean battery terminals. 3 Check all wiring, 4 Check!replace solenoid or starter, 1 Raise cutting height]reduce speed, 2 Adjust throttle control, 3 Clean underside of mower housing° 4 Clean!replace air filter. 5 Check oi! level/changeoil, 6 Clean & regapor changespark plug 7 Replace fuel filter. 8 Empty fuel tank and refill tank witr fresh, clean gasoline. 9 Empty fue! tank and carburetor, refill tank with fresh gasoline and replace fuel filter. 10 Connect & tighten spark plug wire 11 Clean engine air screen/fins, 12 Clean/replace muffler., 13 Check all wiring_ 14 See "To Adjust Carburetor" in Service and Adjustments section+ t5 Contact a Sears or other qualified service center. Excessive vibration 1 2 3 Engine continues to t run when operator leaves seat with attachment clutch engaged Worn, bent or loose blade. Bent blade mandrel Loose/damaged part(s). Faulty operator-safety presence control system 1 Replace blade. Tightenblade bolt. 2 Contacta Sears or otherqualified servicecenter. 3 Ttghtenloosepart(s). Replace damaged parts.
