The switch is a fully managed Layer 2, for Standard Image (SI) mode, and Layer 3, for Enhanced Image (EI) mode, switch that provides 24 SFP+ ports and 1 optional expansion module slot. The switch also provides virtual stacking functionality using the D-Link SIM technology allowing up to 32 units to be managed via a single IP address. With support for IPv4/IPv6 static and dynamic routing and a plethora of advanced security and enhanced QoS features, the switch future proofs your network and provides a seamless migration path to IPv6. The DXS-3600-32S, running in the Enhanced Image (EI) mode, is a high-performance Layer 3 switch that provides advanced Layer 3 routing features such as RIP, OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, VRRP, up to 5 IP addresses per VLAN, and floating static routes. Policy-based routing (which forwards traffic based on L3/L4 SA/DA) and Multipath routing (which is the method of establishing multiple paths between given source-destination nodes within a network) are also features supported on the switch. These added routing features provide redundancy, load balancing, and improved network utilization for the network. The DXS-3600-32S incorporates an advanced portfolio of security features designed to protect your network from malicious attacks. SSH & SSL encrypted management guarantee secure private configuration and monitoring when using the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and Command Line (CLI). IP-MAC-Port binding prevents unauthorized devices from accessing network resources and also acts as an anti-spoofing tool. IEEE 802.1X ports and MAC-based authentication help provide added network security by requiring all users attempting to connect to your network to provide a username and password. This username and password must then be authenticated on a RADIUS or TACACS+ server, ensuring only authorized users have access to the network. Access Control Lists (ACL) based on Layers 2/3/4, Rate Limiting, and Guest VLANs provide even more control over what and how users access the network. Finally, with the D-Link CPU Safeguard Engine™, the DXS-3600-32S is protected from Broadcast, Multicast, and Unicast flooding, which in turn prevents the switch from being crippled by DoS attacks . The DXS-3600-32S facilitates the deployment of enterprise applications such as VoIP, streaming media, and multicast content delivery such as IP video conferencing and software deployment with enhanced enterprise features such as L2/L3/L4 QoS, IGMP and MLD snooping, 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree, 802.1s Multiple Spanning Tree group, 802.3ad Link Aggregation, and 802.1Q VLANs. Package Contents Open the shipping carton of the Switch and carefully unpack its contents. The carton should contain the following items: • One DXS-3600-32S switch. • One Quick Installation Guide. • One AC power cord. • One AC power supply module. • Three Fan modules. • One RJ-45 to RS-232 console cable. • One rack mounting kit (two brackets and screws). • Four rubber feet with adhesive backing. • One CD containing the Web UI Reference Guide, CLI Reference Guide, and D-View module. 1
