CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer). CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer. Display Assembly Removing the Display Assembly 1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery). 3. Remove the optical drive (see Removing the Optical Drive). 4. Remove the module cover (see Removing the Module Cover). 5. Follow the instructions from step 4 to step 6 in Removing the Hard Drive. 6. Remove the two screws that secure the display assembly to the computer base. 7. Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard). 8. Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest). 9. Disconnect the antenna cables from the Mini-Card. 10. Disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board, and remove the display cable grounding screw. 11. Hold the display assembly in place and remove the four screws (two on each side) that secure the display assembly to the computer base.

Removing the Display Assembly
1.
Follow the instructions in
Before You Begin
.
2.
Remove the battery (see
Removing the Battery
).
3.
Remove the optical drive (see
Removing the Optical Drive
).
4.
Remove the module cover (see

).
5.
Follow the instructions from
step 4
to
step 6

6.
Remove the two screws that secure the display assembly to the computer base.
7.
Remove the keyboard (see

8.
Remove the palm rest (see

9.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the Mini-Card.
10.
Disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board, and remove the display cable grounding screw.
11.
