CHAPTER 4 Peripherals This chapter describes how to use peripheral devices with your computer. You can connect a printer, external monitor, external keyboard, mouse or other device to the parallel, RS-232C serial, USB or keyboard/mouse ports. To ensure proper use, be sure to read the instructions for each peripheral device before connecting it to your computer. Using Peripherals You can use the peripheral devices shown under Peripherals Connection Overview. For details, refer to the section in this chapter that explains the device. • Be sure to turn off the computer and the peripheral device before connecting a device (except when connecting USB devices and PC cards). • Some devices have to be turned on after the computer is turned on. • Some devices require that you install drivers before use. Connecting a Peripheral Device 1. Turn off the computer and the peripheral device (except when connecting USB devices and PC cards). 2. Connect the peripheral device to the computer. Peripherals
This chapter describes how to use peripheral devices with your computer. You can
