Setting the IP Address of the Switch Two methods for setting the IP address are to use DHCP or to statically assign the address. See the section titled "Accessing the Switch Through the CLI" on page 43 to start the CLI. The configuration options are: • You can simultaneously use a static IP address on the management and out-of-band (OOB) interfaces. • You can only use DHCP on one interface at any given time (DHCP cannot be configured for both interfaces simultaneously). Setting DHCP on the OOB Interface 1. Type enable at the console> prompt, and press . 2. At the console# prompt, type config and press . 3. At the console(config)# prompt, type ip address none and press . This ensures that DHCP (an IP Address) is not configured on the management interface. 4. At the console(config)# prompt, type interface out-of-band and press . 5. Type ip address dhcp and press . 6. Type exit. 7. Type exit. 8. At the console# prompt, type show ip interface out-of-band and press . Setting DHCP on the Management Interface 1. Type enable at the console> prompt, and press . 2. At the console# prompt, type config and press . 3. At the console(config)# prompt, type interface out-of-band and press . 4. At the console(config-if)# prompt, type ip address none and press .
