Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. Prerequisites 1 Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the Computer Cover" on page 23. Removing the Coin-Cell Battery CAUTION: Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS settings to default. It is recommended that you note the BIOS settings before removing the coin-cell battery. See "System Setup" on page 119 for instructions on entering the system setup program. 1 Locate the battery socket on the system board. Prerequisites

Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the Computer Cover" on
page 23.
Removing the Coin-Cell Battery
CAUTION:
Removing the coin-cell battery resets the BIOS settings to default. It is
recommended that you note the BIOS settings before removing the coin-cell
battery. See "System Setup" on page 119 for instructions on entering the system
setup program.

Locate the battery socket on the system board. See "System-Board
Components" on page 21.

Press the battery-release lever to remove the coin-cell battery.
