Configuration access, the ability to configure storage systems, is governed by the storage system software security mechanism: a set of privileges based on username and password that's stored, encrypted, on one or more storage systems in a network. Data access, the ability to read and write information to storage-system LUNs, is provided by Storage Groups. During storage-system configuration, the system administrator uses a management utility to associate a server with one or more LUNs. The associated LUNs compose a Storage Group. Each server sees its Storage Group as if it were an entire storage system, and never sees the other LUNs on the storage system. Therefore, it cannot access or modify data on LUNs that are not part of its Storage Group. Access Control with Shared Storage
Access control permits or restricts a server’s access to shared storage.
Configuration access, the ability to configure storage systems, is
governed by the storage system software security mechanism: a set of
privileges based on username and password that’s stored, encrypted,
on one or more storage systems in a network.
Data access, the ability to read and write information to
storage-system LUNs, is provided by Storage Groups. During
storage-system configuration, the system administrator uses a
management utility to associate a server with one or more LUNs. The
associated LUNs compose a Storage Group.
Each server sees its Storage Group as if it were an entire storage
system, and never sees the other LUNs on the storage system.
Therefore, it cannot access or modify data on LUNs that are not part
of its Storage Group. However, you can define a Storage Group as
