Solutions to Common Problems 33 Before you call°°o If you experience a problem with your refrigerator or notice a product behavior or condition that you do not understand, you can usually avoid a call to your service representative by referring to this section for an answer. Beginning with the following table, this information includes common problems, causes, and suggested solutions. Automatic ice/Flaker Problem Cause Ice makeris notmaking anyice. • Ice maker setting is Off. ,, Water supply is not connected to refrigerator. ,, Householdwater line valve is not open. ,, Valve on cold water pipe is clogged or restricted by foreign material. If valve is of the self-piercing type, it may not havecreated a sufficiently sized hole in tube for water to pass throug h. • Checkto see if the water dispenser is dispensing water. ,, Water filter is not completely seated. Ice makerisnotmaking enoughice. Ice hasbadodor and taste, • Ice maker is producing less icethan you expect. ,, Householdwater line valve is not completely open. • Checkto see if water dispenser is dispensing slower than normal. ,, Icehaspickedupodor or flavorfrom strong foodstoredin refrigerator, ,, Icenot usedfrequentlyenough. Correction ,, Turn on ice maker. ,, Connect water supply (see Installation Instructions). • Turn on household water line valve. , Turn off household water linevalve. Removevalve. Ensurethat valveis not a self-piercing valve. Clean valve. Replacevalve if necessary. ,, If not, the ice & water filter cartridge is clogged or restricted, and must be replaced. ,, Pushfirmly until the water filter snaps into place (you should hear t_vo(2) clicks). • Ice makershould produce approximately 10 pounds of iceevery 24 hours. ,, Turn on household water line valve. , If it is, replacethe ice & water fitter cartridge. ,, Coverfoodstightly.Discardstaleice.Ice makerwilt producefreshsupply. ,, Discardstaleice, iceDispenser Problem Dispenser will not dispense ice. Ice dispenser is jammed. Cause ,, Water supply' is not connected. Ice storage bin is empty, ,, Householdwater line valve is not open. • FreshFood door is not closed. • Ice dispensing paddle has beenheld in for more than four to (4-5) minutes. • Ice has melted andfrozen around auger due to infrequent use, temperature fluctuations, and.i or power outages. ,, Ice cubes are frozen together. • Ice cubes are smaller than normal. Correction ,, Connectwater supply (see ConnectingThe Water Supply section). • Ensureice maker is turned on. When the first supply of ice is dropped into the bin, the dispenser should operate. • Openhousehold water line valve. Allow sufficient time for the ice to be made.When ice is made,the dispenser should operate. ,, EnsureFreshFooddoor is closed. (See Problem Section, Opening/Closingof Doors/Drawers) • Motor is overloaded. Motor overload protector will reset inapproximately three (3) minutes. Ice can then be dispensed. ,, Removeice bin, thaw, and empty the contents. Clean bin, wipe dry, and replace in proper position. When new ice is made, dispenser should operate. • Usethe dispenser often so that cubesdo not freeze together. ,, The ice & water filter cartridge could be clogged. Replacethe filter cartridge. Dispensing system operates best at 30-100 psi water pressure.Well water pressures should fall within this range.
