1-7 Setting up ATI CrossFireX™ Configuration A. System Requirements - The 2-Way CrossFireX technology currently supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems - The 3-Way/4-Way CrossFireX technology currently supports Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems only - A CrossFireX-supported motherboard with two/three/four PCI Express x16 slots and correct driver - Two/three/four CrossFireX-ready graphics cards of identical brand and chip and correct driver (Current ATI GPUs that support 3-Way/4-Way CrossFireX technology include the Radeon HD 3800 series, Radeon HD 4800 and Radeon HD 5800 series.) - CrossFireX bridge connector(s) (Note) - A power supply with sufficient power is recommended (refer to the manual of your graphics cards for the power requirement) B. Connecting the Graphics Cards Step 1: Observe the steps in "1-6 Installing an Expansion Card" and install two/three/four CrossFireX-ready graphics cards on the PCI Express x16 slots. The following table shows the recommended CrossFireX configurations with two/three/four cards. Recommended 2/3/4-Way CrossFireX Configurations: 2-Way 3-Way 4-Way PCIEX16_1 a a - - a PCIEX16_2 a a a a PCIEX8_1 -a a a PCIEX8_2 --a a PCIEX4_1 - - - - - PCIEX4_2 - - - - - Step 2: Insert the CrossFireX bridge connector(s)(Note) in the CrossFireX gold edge connectors on top of the two/three/four cards. Step 3: Plug the display cable into the graphics card on the PCIEX16_1 slot. C. Configuring the Graphics Card Driver C-1. To Enable CrossFireX Function For 2-Way CrossFireX: After installing the graphics card driver in the operating system, go to the Catalyst Control Center. Browse to the CrossFireX menu and select the Enable CrossFireX™ check box. Click OK to apply. For 4-Way CrossFireX: Browse to the CrossFireX menu, select the Enable CrossFireX™ check box, and select the 4 GPUs combination. Click OK to apply. For 3-Way CrossFireX: Browse to the CrossFireX menu, select the Enable CrossFireX™ check box, and select the 3 GPUs combination. Click OK to apply. Procedure and driver screen for enabling CrossFireX technology may differ by graphics cards. Refer to the manual that came with your graphics cards for more information about enabling CrossFireX technology. (Note) The bridge connectors may be needed or not depending on your graphics cards. A. System Requirements

The 2-Way CrossFireX technology currently supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems

The 3-Way/4-Way CrossFireX technology currently supports Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems only
- A CrossFireX-supported motherboard with two/three/four PCI Express x16 slots and correct driver
- Two/three/four CrossFireX-ready graphics cards of identical brand and chip and correct driver
(Current ATI GPUs that support 3-Way/4-Way CrossFireX technology include the Radeon HD 3800 series, Radeon HD 4800
and Radeon HD 5800 series.)

B. Connecting the Graphics Cards
Step 1:
Observe the steps in "1-6 Installing an Expansion Card" and install two/three/four CrossFireX-ready graphics cards on the
PCI Express x16 slots. The following table shows the recommended
CrossFireX configurations with
two/three/four cards.
Step 2:
Insert the CrossFireX bridge connector(s)
(Note)
in the CrossFireX gold edge connectors on top of the two/three/four cards.
Step 3:
Plug the display cable into the graphics card on the PCIEX16_1 slot.

C. Configuring the Graphics Card Driver
C-1. To Enable CrossFireX Function
For 2-Way CrossFireX:
After installing the
graphics card driver in
the operating system,
go to the
Catalyst Con-
trol Center
. Browse to
the
CrossFireX
menu
and select the
Enable
CrossFireX
check box.
Click
OK
to apply.
For 3-Way CrossFireX:
Browse to the
CrossFireX
menu, select the
Enable
CrossFireX
check box,
and select the
3 GPUs
combination. Click
OK
to
apply.
For 4-Way CrossFireX:
Browse to the
CrossFireX
menu, select the
Enable
CrossFireX
check box,
and select the
