Installing SATA hard drive(s) in your computer Attach one end of the SATA signal cable to the rear of the SATA hard drive and the other end to available SATA port on the motherboard. The Marvell® 88SE9172 SATA controller controls the onboard GSATA3 6/7 connectors and eSATA connectors on the back panel. (Use either the GSATA3 6/7 connectors or the eSATA connectors at a time.) Then connect the power connector from your power supply to the hard drive. B. Configuring SATA controller and RAID mode in BIOS Setup Make sure to configure the SATA controller mode correctly in system BIOS Setup. Step 1: Turn on your computer and press to enter BIOS Setup during the POST. To create RAID, go to Peripherals\Marvell ATA Controller Configuration and make sure GSATA Controller is set to RAID Mode. Press on GSATA RAID Configuration to enter the RAID configuration screen. Make sure the Force to ESATA or GSATA item is set correctly, depending on which connectors are used (Figure 1). A. Installing SATA hard drive(s) in your computer
Attach one end of the SATA signal cable to the rear of the SATA hard drive and the other end to available SATA
port on the motherboard. The Marvell
®
88SE9172 SATA controller controls the onboard GSATA3 6/7 connectors
and eSATA connectors on the back panel. (Use either the GSATA3 6/7 connectors or the eSATA connectors at
a time.) Then connect the power connector from your power supply to the hard drive.
B. Configuring SATA controller and RAID mode in BIOS Setup
Make sure to configure the SATA controller mode correctly in system BIOS Setup.
Step 1:
Turn on your computer and press <Delete> to enter BIOS Setup during the POST. To create RAID, go to
Peripherals\Marvell ATA Controller Configuration
and make sure
GSATA Controller
is set to
RAID Mode
.
Press <Enter> on
GSATA RAID Configuration
to enter the RAID configuration screen. Make sure the
Force
to ESATA or GSATA
item is set correctly, depending on which connectors are used (Figure 1).
