CONNECTIONS Only make the connections with your receiver unplugged and/or switched off. This turntable is equipped with OUTPUT jacks for connecting it to your receiver. The connection cord including the ground wire is supplied with the turntable. The cord has the plugs on both ends; insert those on one end to the OUTPUT jacks on the rear of the turntable and those on the other end to the phono input jacks on your receiver. The white plug is for the left channel and the red plug is for the right channel. Connect the ground wire to the GND terminal on the turntable and ground terminal on your receiver. When connection is made with a cord other than the one supplied with the turntable, be sure to connect the GND terminal on the turntable to the ground terminal on your receiver with an independent lead wire. Connect the power cord to an AC convenience outlet of your receiver or into an AC outlet in the wall. Note: Make sure that the output cords are not trapped underneath the turntable or receiver. This can damage the cords and cause open circuits. Be sure to connect the output cords to the proper phono input jacks, if more than one pair of input jacks are provided. For receivers with "MM" or "MC" phone input jacks, connect the output cord to the jacks that correspond to the type of cartridge installed. "MM" stands for "Moving Magnet" and is the most common type of cartridge available. "MC" stands for "Moving Coil" and is an increasingly popular cartridge type. 0 0 OltOlttiuslo. When the SPEED REFERENCE button has been depressed it is possible to obtain the proper speed for the disc you will be using simply by setting the SPEED SELECTOR at the appropriate 33 or 45 setting, and it will not be necessary to make fine adjustments in PLATTER speed. On occasion, however, you might wish to make your own setting. This is advisable in a variety of cases--you might be using an older record that was not recorded at a stabilized speed; you may wish to provide your own accompaniment to the record, which might entail changing the disc speed to conform to your own speed, or you simply might want to listen to the record at some speed other than what it was recorded at. To do this simply press the SPEED REFERENCE button to the off position. The lamp will go out. Now adjust the SPEED CONTROL to your preference. The SPEED CONTROL cannot be used to adjust speed while the SPEED REFERENCE indicator is on. If you wish to make precise adjustments in the speed of a disc, for any reason, the unit is equipped with a DISC STABILIZER WITH STROBOSCOPE that you can use to determine the speed of the disc. Disc Stabilizer with Stroboscope The DISC STABILIZER with which this turntable is equipped is placed over the disc in order to hold it firmly on the PLATTER MAT. This DISC STABILIZER will not only correct disc distortions, it also enables the stylus tip to accurately trace the grooves on the disc. The DISC STABILIZER is also marked with a striped stroboscope, making it easy to determine the speed of a disc. How to Control Speed 1 . Place the disc on the PLATTER MAT and then put the DISC STABILIZER WITH STROBOSCOPE on the disc. 2. Set the SPEED SELECTOR to 33 or 45 depending on the speed of the disc. 3. Flip the CUE lever up. When the TONEARM has been moved over the disc the PLATTER will begin revolving. 4. Set SPEED REFERENCE button so that the SPEED REFERENCE indicator goes off (button out). 5. Put a fluorescent light on the STROBOSCOPE on the DISC STABILIZER and observe the flow of the stripes. Revolution speed can be adjusted by moving the SPEED CONTROL knob to the right or left. Moving the SPEED CONTROL knob to the left, a " + " direction, will cause the stripes to flow to the - SPEW -- 3 left. Moving it to the right, contra, a " " direction, will cause ----- the stripes to flow to the right. The position at which the stripes appear to stop moving marks the proper speed for the disc being played. 6
