CAPACITANCE TRIM ADJUSTMENT OPERATING Each cartridge has a specified load capacitance into which it performs best. To determine the capacitive load on the cartridge, the capacitance of the receiver's phono input circuitry and the capacitance of the turntable's tonearm and output cord must be added. Often, this amount is less than that required by the cartridge. The capacitance trim feature allows you to add 100pF or 200pF to the normal amount, so that nearly all cartridges can be accommodated. Cartridge capacity Trim position Less than 300pF normal 300 to 400pF + 1000 Over 400pF +200pf Please read the owner's manual of the cartridge and adjust the trim position accordingly. J •• Use a coin to change the setting. Less When the CAP. TRIM is properly adjusted. Over okHz Frequency 1. Turn down the volume of your receiver to the minimum position. 2. Turn on your receiver and select the phono function according to the owner's manual of the receiver. 3. Place the disc on the PLATTER MAT. If this is a 45 RPM disc, you will need to use the center hole ADAPTOR provided with the turntable. 4. Set the SPEED SELECTOR to the 33 or 45 position. 5. Depress the SPEED REFERENCE button to maintain the accurate disc speed. 6. Depress the LIFT button to the AUTO position. (With AUTO position selected, •'' the TONEARM automati- cally lifts, the PLATTER stops and power is turned off when the disc ends.) 7. Flip the CUE lever up to lift the TONEARM, then bring the TONEARM over the disc and the PLATTER will begin to rotate. The SPEED REFERENCE indicator will light up red. Then flip the CUE lever down and the TONEARM will be lowered and the record will begin to play. 8. Slowly raise the volume of receiver up to your desired listening level. 9. If you wish to stop a record from playing before its end is reached, raise the TONEARM by flipping the CUE lever up and bring it to the ARMREST after turning down the volume of your receiver to the minimum position. At the end of the disc, the TONEARM will automatically lift up and the PLATTER will stop. Bring the TONEARM to the ARMREST. 10. The TONEARM will not automatically lift and the PLATTER will not stop at the end of the disc with the LIFT button set to the MANUAL position. It is necessary to manually raise the TONEARM at the disc end and bring it to the ARMREST. A record that has a recorded area that extends beyond the standard limit cannot be fully played in the AUTO lift mode, since the arm will lift and the power will shut off before the record ends. In order to play such a record, the MANUAL mode must be used. 7
