Optical drive connector cable Description Optical drive connector cable Spare part number 686257-001 Before removing the optical drive connector cable, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 40), and then remove the following components: a. Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see Memory module on page 41) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 45) c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 51) d. Top cover (see Top cover on page 55) Remove the optical drive connector cable: 1. Disconnect the optical drive connector cable (1) from the system board. 2. Release the optical drive connector cable from the clips (2) and routing channel built into the base enclosure. 3. Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.5 screws (3) that secure the optical drive connector to the base enclosure. Component replacement procedures 63

Before removing the optical drive connector cable, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

), and then remove the following components:

b.

c.
Hard drive (see

d.
Top cover (see

Remove the optical drive connector cable:
1.
Disconnect the optical drive connector cable
(1)
from the system board.
2.
Release the optical drive connector cable from the clips
(2)
and routing channel built into
the base enclosure.
3.
Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.5 screws
(3)
that secure the optical drive connector to
the base enclosure.
