ChaiVM is an HP developed virtual machine, compliant with the Java™ Virtual Machine Specification, and tailored specifically for devices like the Jornada H/PC. For more information about HP ChaiVM visit the Chai Web site at http://www.chai.hp.com. Using HP ChaiVM with Internet Explorer HP ChaiVM is enabled in Internet Explorer by default. Java applets are automatically displayed in the browser screen for you without any special action required. With HP ChaiVM enabled, a minimum of 16MB of system program memory is required. If necessary, you can adjust memory settings using the System control panel. To open the System control panel, on the Start menu, tap Settings, tap Control Panel, and then tap the System icon. Adjust the slider to change memory allocation settings. (For more detailed information about adjusting memory settings see Managing Memory in chapter 7.) Disabling HP ChaiVM in Internet Explorer Occasionally you may encounter a Web page using Java applets that does not load properly, preventing you from accessing the site or causing Internet Explorer to shut down. Disabling HP ChaiVM may make the site accessible, but you will not be able to view the Java applet. To Disable HP ChaiVM in Internet Explorer 1. Tap Start, tap Programs, tap HP Applications, and then double-tap HP ChaiVM. 2. Tap Options to open the ChaiVM Options dialog box and uncheck the Enable HP ChaiVM plug-in in Internet Explorer check box. 3. Tap OK to save your changes and exit the ChaiVM Options dialog.
