The HP ProCurve 2610 Series rail kit is used for HP ProCurve 2610 Series switches; however, it might be adapted for use in other rack-mount applications (see the installation documentation for your hardware). 1.6 Required Resources To install the HP ProCurve 2610 Series rail kit, you require the following resources: • Tools: - Screwdriver, #2 (medium) Phillips - Cage-nut insertion tool - Marker pen or masking tape - Short stepladder or platform allowing you to install ProCurve switches with brackets installed in the upper part of the rack • Resources: Cables of the type used by the HP ProCurve 2610 Series switch being installed. Note: Although the HP ProCurve 2610 Series switch is not a heavy component, you might need to install it in an elevated location in the rack. In such cases, HP recommends that two people be available to lift and install the ProCurve switch. 1.7 Orient the Components The HP ProCurve 2610 Series switch is mounted with its front panel (the network ports) facing to the rear of the rack. This orientation is due to the routing of the network cable bundles that will connect to the switch. Note, however, that the switch can be mounted with the ports facing the front of the rack, depending on your configuration. The mounting brackets are attached to the sides of the ProCurve switch as shown in Figure 1-3. 1.6 Required Resources 9
