Replacing a fan tray, Removing a Fan Tray, Fan Tray Handle, Locking Screw

Page 32 highlights

Note Do not operate a Myrinet interconnect for extended periods with missing line cards. Use blank panels to fill in any empty line card slots. The front of the enclosure needs to be closed both for the efficiency of the fan cooling and to avoid electromagnetic interference (EMI). 5.3 Replacing a fan tray The fan tray is hot swappable and monitored via the line monitor card. You can identify it by its large handle, located on the right side of the Myrinet system interconnect (Figure 5-5). Remove it by loosening the two locking screws and pulling on the handle. Figure 5-5: Removing a Fan Tray Locking Screw Fan Tray Handle Locking Screw Important When a fan tray is hot swapped, it must be replaced within two minutes. Otherwise, the line cards might power themselves off in response to an over-temperature condition. Each line card has thermal sensors to detect over-temperature conditions. The fan tray actually holds eight small fans (Figure 5-6). 5-4 Replacing components
