WARNING! Do not insert your hands or anything else into the printer while the carriage beam is descending. 18. Lower the substrate pressure handles at the rear of the printer. If you forget to do this, an alert will remind you. 19. If you intend to use full bleed, do not use the substrate edge holders, but use Move to printing (custom) to raise the carriage. Do not remove the edge holders; just move them aside at each end of the platen. 20. If you do not intend to use full bleed, use the substrate edge holders, as follows, to prevent the substrate edges from lifting up and jamming while printing. a. Standing in front of the printer, you should see the two edge holders on either side of the top surface of the substrate. Handle the substrate b. Slide the edge holders to the edges of the substrate and make sure that they are properly positioned and not bent (which could cause a carriage crash). Use the lever to move the edge holder. If it is necessary to attach it to the print platen, engage first the rear end and afterwards the front end using the lever. Ensure that it is always flat. CAUTION: Wrongly positioned edge holders could severely damage the printheads and carriage. The substrate should not touch the ends of the edge holder. 21. Select Exit substrate mgt mode > Yes from the front panel, then reply Yes to the question "Check loaded substrate before exit substrate management mode?". The printer rotates both rolls to check their diameters, and it also checks the width of the roll, the winding direction, the vacuum and the substrate advance calibration (this takes 3-4 min). NOTE: Some substrates (such as transparent substrates) cannot be measured by the printer in this way. In such cases, you will be asked to enter the required information manually. Use the scale on the curing module to see the value for the right-hand edge that must be entered manually in the HP Internal Print Server. ENWW Load a roll into the printer 25

WARNING!
Do not insert your hands or anything else into the printer while the carriage beam is
descending.
18.
Lower the substrate pressure handles at the rear of the printer. If you forget to do this, an alert will
remind you.

If you do not intend to use full bleed, use the substrate edge holders, as follows, to prevent the
substrate edges from lifting up and jamming while printing.
a.
Standing in front of the printer, you should see the two edge holders on either side of the top
surface of the substrate.
b.
Slide the edge holders to the edges of the substrate and make sure that they are properly
positioned and not bent (which could cause a carriage crash). Use the lever to move the edge
holder. If it is necessary to attach it to the print platen, engage first the rear end and afterwards
the front end using the lever. Ensure that it is always flat.
CAUTION:
Wrongly positioned edge holders could severely damage the printheads and
carriage. The substrate should not touch the ends of the edge holder.
