Replacing or upgrading the hard drive CAUTION: To reduce the risk of information loss or an unresponsive system: Shut down the computer before removing a hard drive from the hard drive bay. If you are not sure whether the computer is off, in the Sleep state, or in Hibernation, press the power button, and then shut down the computer through the operating system. NOTE: To determine the type of drive installed in your computer, click Start, right-click Computer, click Manage, and then click Disk Management. NOTE: When replacing a hard drive, make sure that you save the hard drive bracket and cover. You may need to reinstall these parts along with the new hard drive. Removing the hard drive 1. Save your work and shut down the computer. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Remove external power from the computer. 4. Replacing or upgrading the hard drive
