It summarizes details given in the Installation section of the sv6 Installation/User's Guide. • Install optional display devices or other peripheral hardware for each Workstation. • To see what version of the X Window software you have and the build date, run: what /usr/bin/X11/X The build date should be May 30, 2001 or later and should be exactly the same on every Workstation in the visualization center. • For each machine, independently localize it with hostname, IP address, DNS, disk partitions and user. • Log ins, etc. - ensure function is correct and network connectivity is established before proceeding. Match labels on components to labels on cables.
Make sure all Power Distribution Units and power switches are
ON.
On components that were recently worked on, reseat or tighten:
Cards
Thumb screws (large screws that fasten the Workstation cases)
Adapters
Connectors
PCI cages
Covers
Cables
Turn everything (including the Compositor) OFF, then back ON in
this order:
Compositor
Master system
All hubs and network switch boxes
Slave systems
