HP NetServer LXr Pro with NetRAID (HP Rack Storage/8) Cluster Configuration Guide 04 April 2000 (see Version History at the end of this document) Introduction This document defines the supported HP NetServer LXr Pro configurations for Microsoft Cluster Server. These configurations minimize single points of failure, provide maximum availability, and have been certified by Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft. This guide is prescriptive; it describes the HP NetServer LXr Pro configurations supported by HP. Any configuration not expressly allowed by this guide will not be supported by HP. What's Defined • Cluster • SPUs • Local and Shared Storage • Intra-cluster and Client LANs Cluster Type of SPUs Number of nodes Shared Storage LANs: Client LAN Intra-cluster (Heartbeat) LAN Power source System software: Navigator version Operating System Service pack SPU Model HP NetServer LXr Pro Model 1 Each node must be the same model SPU, but may have different size main memory, cache, and number of CPUs (at least 2 are required). 2 Shared Storage HP Rack Storage/8 with HP NetRAID controller and HP disks. See Shared Storage below. Any NIC that is HP and Microsoft approved. See Client LAN below. HP D5013A or J3171A only with crossover cable. See Intra-cluster LAN below. Direct from power mains, power conditioner or uninterruptable power supply (UPS) using any power conditioner or UPS. G.01.00 or later Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Enterprise Edition.
