Replacing the IL Fiber or Cable The IL provides a direct Ethernet connection between the IOPs. Caution: Before proceeding, make sure you are properly grounded using, for instance, a wrist strap with an attached alligator clip that is connected to an appropriate ground. To replace an IL fiber or cable: Step 1 2 3 4 5 6 Action Notes Obtain a replacement IL cable. Decide which IOP can be removed with the least impact to your system, and shut down that IOP, as described on page 9-5. Detach the IL cable from the NICs in IOP1 and IOP2. Install the new IL cable by attaching it to IOP1 and IOP2. Reboot the IOP that you shut down in step 2. Using Endurance Manager: • Reenable any faulted or disabled components (page 9-31). • Make sure that any components affected by this procedure are active or online. Obtain the appropriate fiber or cable that meets the specifications for your Ethernet adapter. Verify that all client networks remain online. Endurance Server Maintenance 9-13
