Disconnect the power cord from the printer. Wait approximately 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back into the printer. Plug the USB cable back into the printer. If "Unknown device" continues to appear in the "New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, check the Web for updates or contact HP Services and Support.
