• Are the power supply cables properly connected to the server board? • Are there any shorted wires caused by pinched-cables or have power connector plugs been forced into power connector sockets the wrong way? Drive Activity Light Does Not Light Check the following: • Are the drive's power and signal cables properly installed? • Are all relevant switches and jumpers on the drive set correctly? • Is the drive properly configured? • Is the drive activity light always on? If so, the signal cable may be plugged in incorrectly. CD-ROM Drive or DVD-ROM Drive Activity Light Does Not Light Check the following: • Are the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive's power and signal cables properly installed? • Are all relevant switches and jumpers on the drive set correctly? • Is the drive properly configured? Cannot Connect to a Server • Make sure the network cable is securely attached to the correct connector at the system back panel. • Try a different network cable. • Make sure you are using the correct and the current drivers. See "Server System References" on page xix for a link to the current drivers. • Make sure the driver is loaded and the protocols are bound. • Make sure the hub port is configured for the same duplex mode as the network controller. • Make sure the correct networking software is installed. • If you are directly connecting two servers (without a hub), you will need a crossover cable. • Check the network controller LEDs next to the NIC connectors. 94 Intel® Server System SR1520ML User's Guide
