When the joystick is deflected from the center (neutral) position, the wheelchair moves in the direction of the joystick movement. 44 The speed of the wheelchair is proportional to the joystick deflections, so that the further the joystick is moved from the neutral position, the faster the wheelchair travels. If the joystick is moved back to the neutral position, the wheelchair slows down and stops. If the joystick is released from any position other than the neutral position, the joystick returns to the neutral position and the wheelchair slows down and stops. 60126081-A
