11 FRONT CASTERS/FORKS 11 Front Casters/Forks ƽ WARNING After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching hardware is tightened securely. Otherwise injury or damage may occur. Make sure both fork/caster assemblies are the same size before using the wheelchair, otherwise injury may occur. Removing/Installing Eight Inch Forks Removing 1. Remove the dust cover. 2. Remove the locknut and nylon washer that secures the fork to the caster headtube. 3. Drop the fork assembly out of the caster headtube. Installing 1. Slide the new fork assembly into the caster headtube. 2. Secure the fork to the caster headtube with the locknut and nylon washer. Tighten securely. 3. Adjust the forks. To properly tighten caster journal system and guard against flutter, perform the following check: A. Tip back of wheelchair to floor. B. Pivot both forks and casters to top of their arc simultaneously. C. Let casters drop to bottom of arc (wheels should swing once to one-side, then IMMEDIATELY rest in a straight downward position). Removing/Installing Eight Inch Forks
Removing
1.
Remove the dust cover.
2.
Remove the locknut and nylon washer that secures the fork to the
caster headtube.
3.
Drop the fork assembly out of the caster headtube.
Installing
1.
Slide the new fork assembly into the caster headtube.
2.
Secure the fork to the caster headtube with the locknut and nylon
washer. Tighten securely.
3.
Adjust the forks. Refer to Adjusting Forks
on page 36.

1.
To properly tighten caster journal system and guard against flutter, perform the following check:
A.
Tip back of wheelchair to floor.
B.
Pivot both forks and casters to top of their arc simultaneously.
C.
Let casters drop to bottom of arc (wheels should swing once to one-side, then IMMEDIATELY rest in a straight downward position).
