General ENGLISH Troubleshooting/error messages What appears to be trouble is not always serious. Check the following points before calling a service center. • For operations with the external components, refer also to the instructions supplied with the adapters used for the connections (as well as the instructions supplied with the external components). Symptoms No sound comes out of the speakers. The screen is dark. The screen is not clear and legible. The power does not turn on. The unit does not work at all. The touch panel does not respond properly. Navigation guidance or AV source is hard to listen to. "System startup failed." "WIRING ERROR Please check wiring then restart unit." Remedies/Causes • Adjust the volume to the optimum level. • Check the cords and connections. • The temperature of the monitor is low. According to the characteristics of liquid crystal display, the screen may be darker than usual if the monitor temperature is low when it is turned on. Turn on the power and wait for some time until the temperature comes up. The brightness returns to normal. • Brightness is set to dark. Adjust the display brightness. (☞ page 85) Sunshine from the windshield may cause this symptom. • Adjust the picture. (☞ page 84) • The brightness and contrast change when viewed from different angles. • Adjust the . (☞ page 85) The fuse has blown out. Check the cords are not shortcircuiting, then replace the fuse with a new one of the same capacity. Turn off, then turn on the unit. • Keep your hands and the touch panel clean and dry. • Eliminate static electricity and do not place magnetic items near the unit. • Leave the unit until the temperature becomes stable in the car. • A rubber mat on the floor may cause this symptom. In this case, do not use the rubber mat. Surround noise interferes. Increase the level. (☞ page 85) The System cannot start up. Turn off, then turn on the unit. A speaker cord has shorted or it has come in to contact with the car chassis. Wire or insulate the speaker cord as appropriate, then restart the unit. See also the Installation/Connection Manual. for some time until the temperature comes up. The
