Chapter 2 Using the Flash Use the flash when you take pictures at night, indoors, or outdoors in heavy shadows. The flash setting can be changed in any Still mode; the default flash setting is restored when the you exit the mode turn off the camera. Flash Range m Wide angle: 2 to 11.2 ft (0.6 to 3.4 m) m Telephoto: 2 to 6.6 ft (0.6 to 2.0 m) Turning On The Flash Flash Setting 1 Press the button repeatedly to scroll through the flash options. 2 Press the OK button The flash icon that is displayed on the LCD status bar (page 9) is the active option. Auto Flash-flash fires when the lighting conditions require it. Off-flash never fires. Fill-flash fires every time you take a picture, regardless of the lighting conditions. Red-eye-flash fires once so the subject's eyes become accustomed to the flash, then fires again when the picture is taken. 22
