QoS on VoIP Traffic The default behavior if the NIC's switch chip is not configured: • If the packet enters the NIC with an 802.1Q tag it will use it to assign the internal QPRI (Queue Priority). • If the packet does not have an 802.1Q tag the NID will use the diffserve priority to assign the QPRI. • If there is no layer 2 or layer 3 priority assigned to the frame the NIC can internally assign a priority based on the ingress port.
