Avoiding System Resource Conflicts Doing a Network Remote Program Load To do a network remote program load (RPL): 1. Using the PS2 command or ThinkPad Features program, check that there is no conflict between the system resources used by the PC Card and by other devices. The following are the resources for a token-ring PC Card and an Ethernet PC Card: Token-Ring PC Card IRQ 9 I/O Address (HEX) 0A20-0A23 Memory Address (HEX) CC000-CDFFF, D8000-DBFFF Ethernet PC Card IRQ 5 I/O Address (HEX) 0300-031F Memory Address (HEX) D0000-D1FFF, D4000-D7FFF IRQ5 is the default setting used by the Sound Blaster emulation. To do an Ethernet PC Card RPL, change the IRQ for the Sound Blaster emulation, or disable it with the ThinkPad Features program or the SB PS2 command. 2. Start Easy-Setup and select the Start Up icon. 3. Select the Network icon. A window appears at the bottom of the screen for you to select the RPL speed. 4. If you are using a token-ring card, select 4 (4Mbps) or 16 (16Mbps) for the RPL speed. 5. Click on OK or press Enter; then restart the computer. 176 IBM ThinkPad 385 or 385D User's Guide
