Disabling the internal battery pack Before replacing any FRU, ensure that you have disabled the internal battery pack by doing the following: 1. Disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer. 2. Restart the computer. When the logo screen is displayed, press F1 to start the ThinkPad Setup program. 3. Go to Config ➙ Power ➙ Disable built-in battery. 4. Press Enter. A Setup Confirmation window is displayed. 5. Click Yes in the Setup Confirmation window. The internal battery pack is disabled and the computer turns off. The Lenovo Solution Center program provides an automatic battery diagnostic test that determines if the battery pack is defective. A battery pack FRU should not be replaced unless this diagnostic test shows that the battery is defective. 1. Disconnect the ac power adapter and all cables from the computer.
2. Restart the computer. When the logo screen is displayed, press F1 to start the ThinkPad Setup program.
