4044-XXX Configuration Mode Settings The following is a description of the available configuration mode menu items and settings. The asterisk (*) indicates the factory default setting. Parallel Port Parallel Port allows the user to enable or disable the parallel port. If the port is not being used, disabling it frees allocated memory to be used to process print jobs. Perform the following steps to change the Parallel Port setting: 1. Enter the configuration mode. Note: The Parallel Port (Ready) LED comes on solid. The current Parallel Port setting is indicated by the Off/On/Auto (Press Button) LED. When the LED is off, the parallel port is disabled. When the LED is *blinking, the parallel port is enabled. 2. Perform a brief button press to select the Parallel Port setting. 3. Perform a long button press. All LEDs blink once, indicating the setting is saved. 4. Exit the configuration mode by turning the printer power off. Parallel NPA Parallel NPA mode allows two way communication between the host and the printer. Perform the following steps to change the Parallel NPA setting: 1. Enter the configuration mode. 2. Perform a double click button press. This moves to the Parallel NPA item on the configuration menu. The Parallel NPA (Data) LED comes on solid. 3. The current Parallel NPA setting is indicated by the Off/On/Auto (Press Button) LED. • When the LED is on solid, all data received by the printer must be in NPA packets. Any non-packet data is rejected as bad packets. • When the LED is off, the printer is not performing any NPA processing. 3-6 Service Manual
