MS-7581 Important Type the password, up to eight characters in length, and press . The password typed now will replace any previously set password. You will be prompted to confirm the password. Retype the password and press . You may also press to abort the selection and not enter a password. To clear a set password, just press when you are prompted to enter the password. A message will show up confirming the password will be disabled. Once the password is disabled, the system will boot and you can enter Setup without entering any password. When a password has been set, you will be prompted to enter it every time you try to enter Setup/ System. This prevents an unauthorized person from changing any part of your system configuration. About Supervisor Password & User Password: Supervisor password: Can enter and change the settings of the setup menu. User password: Can only enter but do not have the right to change the settings of the setup menu. ▶ User Access Level This item is used to limit the user access level. ▶ Passwrod Check This specifies the type of BIOS password protection that is implemented. Settings are described below: Option Description [BIOS] The password prompt appears only when end users try to run Setup. [System] A password prompt appears every time when the computer is powered on or when end users try to run Setup. ▶ Save Supervisor Password to This item is used to assign a place to save the supervisor password. 3-19

Important
Type the password, up to e±ght characters ±n length, and press <Enter>. The password
typed now w±ll replace any prev±ously set password. You w±ll be prompted to confirm the
password. Retype the password and press <Enter>. You may also press <Esc> to abort
the select±on and not enter a password.
To clear a set password, just press <Enter> when you are prompted to enter the pass-
word. A message w±ll show up confirm±ng the password w±ll be d±sabled. Once the
password ±s d±sabled, the system w±ll boot and you can enter Setup w±thout enter±ng
any password.
When a password has been set, you w±ll be prompted to enter ±t every t±me you try to
enter Setup/ System. Th±s prevents an unauthor±zed person from chang±ng any part of
your system configurat±on.
About Superv±sor Password & User Password:
