Videotape Playback Features 37 Slow Motion 1 Press k during playback to pause the videotape. Then press i / g to start slow motion playback. Sound will be mute during slow motion playback. Slow motion playback will stop automatically after five minutes to prevent damage to the tape. 2 Press PLAY B to return to normal playback. Forward and Reverse Searching (SP/LP/SLP) 1 During videotape playback, press and release i / g or j / h. The TV/VCR/DVD will now search in super high speed. Press i / g or j / h repeatedly to switch between regular and super high speed searching. 2 To return to normal playback, press PLAY B. Viewing a Still Picture 1 During tape playback, press k. A still picture will appear on the screen. The picture advances each time you press k. After a tape is paused for five minutes, playback will stop automatically. This prevents damage to the tape and TV/VCR/DVD. 2 If the still picture vibrates vertically, stabilize the picture by pressing CH. v/w. 3 To release the still picture and return to normal playback, press PLAY B. Helpful Hints • SP/LP/SLP means this feature will work with tapes recorded in Standard Play, Long Play, or Super Long Play. LP/SLP means this feature will work with tapes recorded in Long Play and Super Long Play. Tape speed details are on page 25. • During forward and reverse searching, horizontal noise bars will appear on the screen.
