Incorrect operations can sometimes be taken for trouble and malfunctions. If the trouble persists even after the following points have been checked, consult your dealer or nearest Marantz sales office or service center. Problem The disc fails to rotate. The disc stops rotating in mid-operation. The disc is rotating but no sound is heard. Cause The power cord is pulled out of the socket. Power to this unit is not ON. The disc is not placed in the correct position on the disc tray. The disc is placed in upside down. (The disc is placed in with the label facing down). The disc is dirty. The disc is scratched. The disc is warped. The amplifier and speakers are not connected correctly. The amplifier power is not ON. Corrective action Insert the power cord plug into the socket. (ˠ Page 9) Turn the power to this unit ON. (ˠ Page 10) Place the disc in the disc tray correctly. (ˠ Page 10) Place the disc in the disc tray correctly. (ˠ Page 10) Clean the disc's surface. (See the instruction manual for the amplifier.) Problem Cause The distance between this unit and the remote control is too great. Remote control operation is not possible. There is an obstacle between this unit and the remote control. The remote control's batteries are dead. A strong light is hitting the unit's sensor window. The switch on the back of the REMOTE CONTROL is on EXTERNAL. The disc is placed in upside down. CD-R/CD-RW disc cannot be played. The information recorded is not in an audio (CD-DA) format. Or the MP3/ WMA file was not properly recorded. Corrective action Move closer to this unit, and operate the remote control within the operating range. (ˠ Page 4) Remove the obstacle.
