Cleaning and Care Descale For optimum cleaning results it is recommended that you use Miele descaling tablets to descale your combi-steam oven (see "Optional accessories") to avoid damage to the appliance. Ensure that the descaling agent does not come into contact with the door handle or the metal control panel as this could cause marks. Wipe the descaling agent immediately from these surfaces. The appliance will need descaling after a certain number of operating hours. After turning the appliance on, a message will appear in the display to tell you that 10 cooking programs remain before the appliance must be descaled. Only cooking programs which use steam and the "Rinse" function are counted. The appliance will lock after you have run the last remaining program which uses steam. We recommend that you descale the appliance before it locks. The entire descaling program takes about 1 hour. During the program water will need to be added twice. ^ Turn on the device and select "Maintenance" then "Descale". The display shows the message "Please wait ...". The descaling process is being prepared. This may take several minutes. Once preparation is complete, you will be prompted to fill the water container. ^ Fill the water container with 1 qt. (1 liter) of water and add 2 Miele descaling tablets. ^ Place the water container in the appliance, and follow the instructions on the display. 52
