The process of resetting your system to its factory default settings begins. If you enabled email alerts, the ReadyNAS sends a message when the factory defaults are restored. Recover the Administrator Password You can recover a lost or forgotten administrator password in two ways: • Use NETGEAR's password recovery tool. This web-based tool requires that you enable administrator password recovery on your storage system before you can use it. For more information, see Set the Administrator Password on page 168. • Perform an OS reinstall reboot. This process reinstalls the firmware on the storage system and resets the administrator user name and password to factory defaults. Recover the Administrator Password Using NETGEAR's Password Recovery Tool This procedure is an option only if you enabled password recovery. For more information about setting up password recovery, see Set the Administrator Password on page 168. If you lost the password but did not enable administrator password recovery, see Recover the Administrator Password Using an OS Reinstall Reboot on page 228.
