Using the Zoom When you move the zoom control, the zoom lens position changes. • To zoom in closer to the subject: Move toward g (telephoto) • To zoom out and view a larger area: Move toward f (wide-angle) When you turn the camera on, the zoom moves to the maximum wide-angle position. • A zoom indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor when the zoom control is moved. • Digital zoom, which allows you to further magnify the subject up to approximately 4× the maximum optical zoom ratio, can be activated by moving and holding the zoom control toward g when the camera is zoomed in to the maximum optical zoom position. The Shutter-release Button Using the Camera Press halfway Press all the way 14 To set focus and exposure (shutter speed and aperture value), press the shutter-release button lightly (halfway) until you feel a slight resistance. Focus and exposure remain locked while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway. Press the shutter-release button all the way to release the shutter and take an image. Do not use force when pressing the shutter-release button, as this may result in camera shake and blurred images. Press the button gently.

When you move the zoom control, the zoom lens position
